Daily Protocol #6
Bedtime Ritual
There are a few things I have to take care of before going to bed. I empty the cats’ litter boxes (which I also do in the morning), I do the dishes (no dishwashers in New York), I prepare a glass of ice water for Master’s bedside, and I light at least three tea-light candles in his bedroom.
Then I wait by his bedside, notebook and pen in hand, to write down what I’m to do the next day. We go over what I accomplished that day, and what my schedule is like tomorrow. Depending on how much free time I have, he may have me cook dinner. Other chores I may have to do include dropping off/picking up laundry/dry-cleaning, grocery shopping, errands, etc. I love lists, so it’s nice to have— directly in front of me— a clear plan of what Master wants me to do the next day.
And then Master will let me know where I’m sleeping. If he wants me to come to his bed, he’ll simply say, “Come to bed.” If he doesn’t, I know to retire to my own bedroom with a kiss goodnight from him.
He’ll say, “Thank you for your service.” To which I reply, “Thank you for letting me serve you, Master.”
